Parabens


Parabens are used in your skincare products to increase their shelf-life. And, when you’ll go through your skincare products, parabens are the most common culprit. These are a whole range of chemicals ranging from methylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben, and ethylparaben. As far as its availability is concerned you can find them in every skincare product say it to be face wash, creams, makeup, and even in sheet masks. A widely used ingredient which is by the way very harmful.
Parabens take off estrogen leading to a significant hormonal imbalance and that’s not enough Parabens is even associated with breast cancer, so watch out loves what you’ve been using so far.

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) or Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES)


You can mostly found these ingredients in your body wash, bubble bath, and hair cleanser, can you notice one thing common in these products. All of these lather very well. Yes, you have cracked it right. SLS or SLES is used to create a rich lather in the product. But, both SLS and SLES are known to cause your skin a fair share of problems ranging from different allergies to skin irritation. It increases the sensitivity level of the skin and also disturbs the pH balance of the skin. Therefore, restrict its usage as much as possible and make a switch.

Formaldehyde


The chemical compound used to preserve dead animals basically in school labs or hospitals. You’ll be shocked to find out; this stuff is being used widely in a plethora of skincare products. Gosh! The cosmetic industry has all become cheap and nasty. Formaldehyde is known to be a carcinogen that is associated with various body ailments such as asthma, neurotoxicity, and growth retardation.

Mineral-oil


A widely used mineral by-product that provides your skin a silky-smooth feel that is similar to a plastic coating. Mineral-oil is known to clogs your pores and you know clogged pores can be a breeding ground for a hell lot of problems. So, we highly recommend staying away from mineral-oil.

Phthalates


Phthalates can be identified in your products as a fragrance. As per the law, they can be simply mentioned as a fragrance in the products. Phthalates are commonly known as plasticizers and are used to increase the strength of plastic but in the cosmetic industry, it’s widely used in product categories like nail paints, hairspray, perfume, and sanitary pads.
Phthalates can cause hormonal imbalance, developmental, and reproductive health issues.
