Skincare tips new mommies need to know to maintain that pregnancy glow

Pregnancy is a beautiful journey in every woman’s life that has its fair share of ups and downs. Nothing can beat the feeling of holding your newly born in your arms and admiring the little human being that was in your womb for the whole 9 months. Although pregnancy can pose some issues and complications, the completion of this journey is extremely rewarding and not to mention, the pregnancy glow that comes along with it. The fluctuation of hormonal levels in your system causes some changes in your body both internally and externally, and one of the most prominent changes your body sees during pregnancy is the lit-from-within glow on your skin, it’s undoubtedly one of the biggest perks of being pregnant.

The pregnancy glow is a real thing, some women are able to maintain this glow even after pregnancy, and some women experience breakouts and dull, sallow skin post-pregnancy. Birthing your child can take a toll on you both physically and mentally, therefore, it’s normal if your skin starts to misbehave. Spending some time with your little one is all that matters now, but it doesn’t mean you should neglect your skin.

We have rounded up a list of some tips for you that will help you keep your pregnancy glow alive.

Get plenty of rest

While getting plenty of rest might not be possible during the initial days or a month or two, you should at least try getting some rest just to relax your mind and to maintain your skin’s health. Depriving yourself of sleep can lead to several skin issues- dark circles and sallow-looking skin are the two most common problems. The best time to take some rest is when your baby is sleeping; it will allow your skin to feel relaxed.

Eat a well-balanced diet

Eating a well-balanced diet is extremely important while you are pregnant and even after childbirth. One of the major reasons for keeping your diet healthy and well-balanced is to provide essential nutrients to your baby since you will be breastfeeding for the first few months. Additionally, you should include nutritious foods in your diet in order to deliver vital nutrients and vitamins to your skin, which will help in maintaining your pregnancy glow.

Follow your skincare routine

You might find it a bit hard to take some time out of your schedule to follow your skincare routine during the first few months post-childbirth, but you can manage at least 5 minutes to follow a very basic skincare routine. You don’t have to follow a comprehensive skincare routine, just keep it simple and quick in order to make you and your skin feel happy and content. Aside from regular cleansing, toning, and moisturizing, you can apply a hydrating face mask every once a week.

Include herbs in your diet

Dealing with postpartum skin and hair can prove to be quite tricky, you have to be pretty careful about all the things you are doing with your hair and skin. If you want to go the natural way and believe in ayurvedic remedies, then you must consume a few herbs on a daily basis. Ashwagandha, Asparagus Racemosus, saffron, etc. are some of the best herbs to include in your diet to achieve clear and glowing skin.

Drink plenty of water daily

Water plays a key role in achieving clean and glowing skin, but merely drinking two glasses of water every day won’t be sufficient. In order to maintain your pregnancy glow, you need to increase the water intake. Drinking plenty of water every day not only helps to flush out toxins from your body and boosts blood circulation, but it also prevents postpartum breakouts and dull skin. You should drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water every day to maintain that pregnancy glow.
