We thought it was the summer season with whom we shared a love-hate relationship, turns out, we have the same kind of relationship with the monsoon season as well. While we completely love the idea of those rainy days and pleasant weather, which gives us a much-needed relief from sweaty days, that joy lasts for a while only, and some days are replaced with excessive humidity and moisture in the air. The change in weather not only affects our mood but our skin as well. And nothing feels worse than watching your skin seeing getting affected by the change in weather. We don’t have any complaints from the monsoon season except for the fact that this weather doesn’t work well for our skin. Our skin is affected the most during monsoon season and while we do pay attention to our faces the most during this time and change the beauty products accordingly, we often forget about our feet during the process, which can easily get damaged because of all the muck and rainwater. And believe us, that’s not the prettiest sight. However, it’s possible to keep your feet safe from all the damage and make them look baby soft and super smooth by following these effective tips.
Damp shoes and socks are a big no
When it comes to monsoon season, you should avoid wearing shoes and socks. When they get wet or damp in the rain, they become a breeding ground for bacteria, and this can result in fungal infection, which is the last thing you want. Rainy season brings along several foot-related problems with itself, when you wear your wet shoes or socks for an extended duration, your feet become susceptible to developing a fungal infection. Therefore, instead of wearing shoes and socks, opt for open-toed footwear, and if that’s not an option, try carrying an extra pair of socks so that you can always change your wet socks.
Pamper your feet
It’s good to pamper your feet every once in a while, especially during monsoon. While getting a pedicure at the salon might not be a feasible option, it doesn’t mean you can’t pamper your feet at home. The best way to care for your feet is by indulging in regular foot soaks. Take lukewarm water in a tub, add a few drops of shampoo and bath salts into the water and soak your feet in the mixture to get rid of dead skin cells and bacteria whilst making your feet feel relaxed and happy.
Don’t skimp on a foot cream
Your feet can easily get stripped of moisture because of constant exposure to water and humidity, leaving them feeling dry and rough. However, you can easily prevent that from happening by applying a foot cream. This is when the need to provide an extra boost of hydration to your feet arises. And there’s no better way to do it than applying foot cream. However, one thing to keep in mind is that you should never skimp on your foot cream. Apply it daily before going to bed and wear a pair of socks to keep your feet covered. This will make sure that your feet feel baby soft and smooth.
Cut your toenails short
Another great way to keep your feet away from fungal infection is by cutting your toenails short. All the dirt, impurities, dust, and rainwater present in the environment can easily settle under the surface of your nails, which increases the chances of fungal infection. Therefore, the best thing to do is cut your toenails short so that you can keep your feet healthy and fungal infection at bay.
