Remove any current Nail Polish

The first thing that you should do for a perfect manicure at home is to clean your nails properly. For this, you must soak and pat dry your hands first and remove any existing nail polish. This is s start to the perfect manicure at home. Use a non-acetone nail polish remover for your nails because they do not dry out the skin around the nails and are also a good choice for the skin. Then with the help of a cotton pad, remove the existing nail paint. This is imperative because just how you start your makeup on a raw face, similarly you need to start off your manicure on clean hands. You should not get too harsh with this nail polish removing process. Be gentle because hustling with them might just damage the nails and make them rough.

Clip, file, and buff your nails

Nail clippers are used when you want to trim your nails a bit. If that is what you want to do, then consider very little clipping. Further, file your nails in one direction and shape them accordingly. Some might like long nails with a square shape and some might like them in a round shape. Whatever you like, you can file and shape our nails accordingly. After you are done filing, the next thing to do is buff your nails properly. Buffing is done on the top and sides of the nails lightly and gently to create a smooth surface. This gives definition to the shape of the nails and looks much neater. This 3-step thing must be done with a gentle touch and not too much harshness. This is because you don’t want to damage your nails, instead, you are there to pamper them.

Soak your hands

Well, this is the most relaxing as well as the most imperative part of the entire process. What you need to do is soak your hands in a bowl of warm water and add any carrier oil or baby shampoo to it. You can also consider adding a gentle cleanser to this bowl of warm water. Soak your hands in it for a few minutes and relax. The reason behind this step is that this actually softens the cuticles of your nails. In fact, the entire skin area near the nails softens and thus, makes it easier to take off the dead skin cells. This process loosens up the dirt and dead skin which then, comes off easily. Use a brush to clean the nails and remove any traces of dirt in and around. Clean your skin even under the nails. Soak your hands for just the right amount of 10-15 minutes and not too much.

Apply a Cuticle Cream & push them backward

Now that your hands, as well as the skin around the nails, is soft, simply apply a cuticle cream and massage for a minute or two. This would further soften the cuticles and make it easier to take off the dead skin. Use a good quality cuticle pusher to push the cuticles back gently and do not exert too much pressure because that may push the cuticles too far in and damage your nails. This can also cause pain and injury so you need to be very careful in this step. Once this is done, wipe off your hands and pat them dry. Use a moisturizer to add a shield to your newly done cuticles and nails.

Apply a nice 3-step nail polish

Apply a thin base coat- to prep your nails for the actual nail polish. This base coat hydrates the nails and becomes a shield. This also prevents chapping. Use a clear nail polish as a base coat.

Apply a topcoat- Once the base coat is dry, apply a thin coat of your favorite nail polish on top of it. Roll the bottle first to avoid any clumping of nail polish on your nails.

Finish off with clear nail polish- Once your nail polish is also dry, finish it off by applying another layer of clear nail polish on top of it. This protects the nails from dryness, chapping as well as flaking. Thus, your manicure is done!
